Bultrug voor kust bij Castricum gespot

Voor de kust bij Castricum is een bultrug waargenomen. Het is niet ongebruikelijk dat de walvissoort in de Noordzee zwemt.

Het dier zou op ongeveer 1,5 kilometer van de kust zwemmen, meldt SOS Dolfijn op X. Volgens een woordvoerder kwam de melding van een “betrouwbare waarnemer”.

SOS Dolfijn heeft het dier nog niet op de radar. Daardoor is het ook niet duidelijk of het dier verdwaald is en hoe het met de gezondheid van de bultrug is. Dat gaat de organisatie eerst uitzoeken. Ook wordt gekeken of de bultrug een bekende van SOS Dolfijn is.

“Een bultrug voor de Nederlandse kust hoeft niet per se een dier in nood te zijn. Doorgaans redden ze zich goed”, legt de woordvoerder uit. De bultrug kwam tot deze eeuw nooit in de Noordzee, maar de laatste jaren wel. “De bultrug heeft de Noordzee helemaal ontdekt.”

Eerst wil de organisatie er zeker van zijn dat het dier niet in de problemen is. Daarom worden mensen die de walvis zien zwemmen opgeroepen zich te melden bij SOS Dolfijn.
